Casual & extra class attendance

As with other self cultivating arts Shadow Yoga is taught in a course based format. This offers students a sequential, progressive understanding on which to build a solid practice and a foundation for good health.

Yoga Moves acknowledges that there are times when this system does not suit, therefore the following price list is offered for ‘casual’ and ‘extra class’ attendance, as listed below:

Foundation & Prelude classes: $36
Angahara & Nrtta Sadhana classes: $41

Pension: Receiving Government Full Pension. Does not include Health Care Card recipient. For eligibility check with Louise or your class teacher.

Spring Term:

  • Melbourne Cup (Tues 05 Nov): All classes are on.
  • Note: No classes week of Monday 25 Nov–Sun 1 Dec.

Foundation: appropriate for every one

Six weeks: $181 (except Wednesdays)

Foundation Courses: all classes are 75 minutes. Wednesdays is five weeks: $151 Introduces form, philosophy & breath and is the starting point for students new to Shadow Yoga. The foundation of Shadow Yoga practice is introduced in a sequential format with a focus on strengthening bones, blood, & breath, freeing the joints, and toning the abdomen.

Coordination, rhythm and breath is further refined. The third prelude, Kartikeya Mandala (the Garland of Light), is also given which prepares for the practice of more complex asanas, Asana Angahara and Nrtta Sadhana.

Asana Angahara

Ten weeks $371

Utilising linear and/or circular swaying arrangements Asana Angahara is “the sequential arrangement of bodily shapes as well as the arrangement within these shapes” (Shadow Yoga). Nauli Kriya and preparation for inversions are introduced. The nature of the morning linear arrangement is to move prana from the body’s nerves into the blood while the swaying/circular afternoon practice shifts the energy into the nerves cleansing the blood from the day’s activity.

Yoga for the Young at Heart

Ten weeks $331 (Pension $300)

A slower-paced class for those who may find everyday movements challenging. Practice is directed to improving joint mobility, increasing blood circulation and strength, building balance, confidence, posture, enhancing breath capacity and relaxation, toning muscle, improving prana flow and so aiding rejuvenation. Classes are held by an experienced teacher in a warm supportive environment.

Staggered start times in a group setting this class builds student confidence in self practice and complements other group classes. Individual observation with specific one-on-one adjustments. Prerequisite: some Shadow Yoga experience.

Includes the Eight Mother Palms (Astha Matrika), Kali’s Creative Dance (Lasya) and Shiva’s Destructive Dance (Ananda Tandava). The adaptation of rhythmic dance for the purpose of self-cultivation is a natural extension of Shadow Yoga and serves as preparation for the more internal practices of yoga. “Nrtta is that Sadhana through which the Sadhana (aspirant) rediscovers the rhythmic life currents hidden in the body’s folds and limbs by means of unimposed natural positioning”.
